Addison Durrell is a Client Advisor with Seacoast Bank, whose passion is fueled by his love for helping others. Addison grew up in Vero Beach, Florida with four half-siblings and was raised by his mom to be an accepting, loving, and compassionate individual. He believes above all else that those who are given the gift of life should be able to lead that life with their own passion and desires, whilst staying true to oneself. A straight ally, Addison recalls being questioned about his sexuality while growing up. Regardless of this, he notes that the bigger question should be, “Why did it matter?” He always thought you could be different, you should be different, and people deserved to be proud of those differences.
Addison wanted to take these ideas and dreams of a more accepting and loving community and putting them to work by serving on the Winter Park Pride Project Board of Directors. Addison has found true inspiration in the words of Barbara Gittings, a monumental figure in the fight for LGBT Civil Rights, “Equality means more than passing laws. The struggle is really won in the hearts and minds of the community, where it really counts.”
